All of China’s four biggest cities have relaxed curbs on homebuying and lowered the floors on down payment ratios in response to the central government’s recently announced housing market stimulus, but industry sources said these measures may not be enough to boost sales.
Since Sunday, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou have all announced adjustments to their respective rules on homebuying qualifications, with Guangzhou scrapping all curbs on homebuying in the entire city regardless of the buyer’s marital status or whether the buyer holds a local household registration, known as a “hukou.”
